Marguet Pere et Fils
A producer forging ahead since 2009 (previously Marguet-Bonnerave) in organic and biodynamic ways and specifically trying to reduce sulphur contact where possible.
They are striving to reduce their range to express mono cru so expect their blended wines to be replaced with single cru, single varietal wines from exciting vineyards in Ambonnay, Ay, Avize, Mesnil, Bouzy, Chouilly and Cramant of which they buy in 10%.
They put emphasis on their terroir; noting the chalk level in Ambonnay their planting of Chardonnay in this village represents 42 percent of their total vines. This focus and clever use of oak, up to nine months in certain cuvees creates wines of great power and bite, each with a singular focus that grasp your attention in a fascinating way. I cannot wait to taste his collection of single cru wines that will hit the market as of 2015.
His prestige wine Sapience produced in conjunction with Herve Jestin, and wines from Vincent Laval and David Leclapart, is destined for greatness. A stunning wine with great delicacy and superb structure. It also can be found labelled Champagne Jestin.
