Dauby Rose

Light floral. Orange tinged salmon pink. Good fruit on mid but lacking depth.

Dauby Vintage

Warm vanilla notes. Hugely powerful oak notes. Lingering lemon zest and grapefruit. Really hits the mid-late. The oak hugely dominates this.

Dauby Millesime Brut

Powerful acidity. Great length to the palate.Keeping freshness. Lovely grapefruit and forest fruit notes.

Dauby Blanc de Noir

Powerful nose. Sweet vanilla palate. Starfruit. Creamy mousse with an opulent clementine mid palate. The acidity drops a little quickly and the sugar level is a touch high but otherwise good.

Dauby Reserve Premier Cru

Crisp, saline. Sweet pinot with a very dry fruit note. For drinking up front. Very strict palate. Minerality held very tightly at the back. Very balanced sugar!

Dauby

Working with eight hectares in and around Ay, Dauby produce a strict, pinot noir driven selection of wines that show, at some points, a slightly heavy use of oak. I have often been lured in by the sweet pinot fruit of their wines especially from Mutigny and Mareuil sur Ay. They have a very seductive palate and are always well balanced. They work using large oak barrels to mature their wines in reserve and this is very noticeable as you step from the Reserve 1er Cru up to the Blanc de Noir with it’s sweet vanilla notes and lovely hint of salinity. The Millesime undergoes fermentation in steel tank and sees no oak and gives you lots of grapefruit and forest fruit notes from it’s Ay and Mutigny make up. Their prestige wine, Guy Dauby, is a powerhouse of a wine. Warm vanilla notes, layered with lemon zest and grapefruit. A touch too much oak, some might say, but enjoyable all the same!
