Much more stewed on the nose than the Bollinger VVF 2002 (tasted alongside). Huge hit of power and heat on the mid-late palate. Sweet stewed raisins with apple. I can almost fast the Bollinger through this. It is a touch too fleshy. Prune with peach skin. Typical heat and power of a 1996. Lacking structure. So powerful after time in the glass – gaining minerality and zest.
